Cuba Sanctions & Trade Compliance
One of the oldest sanctions programs the US has. The Cuban Assets Control Regulations prohibit almost all exports of US-origin goods and services without a specific OFAC license.
There are limited exceptions — humanitarian goods, agricultural products, telecom equipment — but each one comes with conditions and documentation requirements that are easy to get wrong. The part that surprises some companies: the embargo applies to US persons and US-origin goods globally, not just at the US border. Cuban-connected partners in your supply chain, including third-country intermediaries, create sanctions exposure even when Cuba is nowhere in the shipping documents.
