Compliance Platform
A compliance platform consolidates trade compliance functions — screening, classification, license management, document storage, and audit trails — into a single system rather than a collection of spreadsheets and point tools. The integration matters more than any individual feature: when a counterparty gets added to the SDN list, the platform should flag open transactions, pending shipments, and historical activity simultaneously. Siloed tools don't do this. The market ranges from purpose-built trade compliance platforms to modules within ERP systems. Purpose-built platforms generally have better regulatory content and more frequent list updates. ERP-integrated modules generally have better data connectivity to the transaction systems that generate the screening trigger. We cover the trade-offs, the questions to ask in vendor evaluations, and the implementation failures we see most often.
