Australia Export Compliance
Australia is one of the United States' closest security and trade partners, and the Australia-United States Free Trade Agreement (AUSFTA) eliminates tariffs on most goods traded between the two countries. Australia participates in the AUKUS security partnership and aligns closely with US export control policy, including application of similar controls on dual-use technology. The Defence Export Controls office administers Australian strategic goods export licensing, and Australia maintains its own autonomous sanctions regime that largely mirrors but does not identically replicate US and UN sanctions. US exporters to Australia face low tariff barriers but must maintain standard partner screening obligations under OFAC and BIS rules regardless of the destination country's ally status.
