Singapore Export Compliance

Singapore is a major transshipment and logistics hub, which makes it both a critical trade destination and an elevated compliance risk point. BIS and OFAC have documented cases of controlled US technology reaching sanctioned destinations — including Russia, Iran, and North Korea — through Singapore intermediaries. US exporters shipping to or through Singapore must apply enhanced due diligence to end-use and end-user verification, particularly for dual-use electronics, semiconductors, and precision manufacturing equipment. Singapore's Strategic Goods Control Act imposes its own export licensing requirements that apply to Singaporean entities. Screening Singapore-based distributors and freight forwarders against the BIS Unverified List and Entity List is a documented compliance expectation for US exporters.
