EU Tariffs
The EU Common External Tariff applies to all goods entering from outside the bloc, but the effective rate depends on origin, product classification, and whether a preferential trade agreement applies. The EU has FTAs with over 70 countries — but preference claims require EUR.1 certificates or origin declarations, and customs authorities audit them. Dual-use goods face additional controls under EU Regulation 2021/821. For US exporters, the standard MFN rate averages around 5%, but rates on agricultural products, chemicals, and finished goods run considerably higher. We cover tariff classification under the Combined Nomenclature, anti-dumping measures, and country-specific preferential rules.
