Tariff Rates
US tariff rates vary by product, by country of origin, and by which trade remedy orders apply. The standard MFN rate for manufactured goods averages around 3.5%, but rates on specific categories — footwear, textiles, sugar, tobacco — run 20–50%. For goods from China, Section 301 duties add 7.5–145% depending on the list. For steel and aluminum, Section 232 adds 10–25%. For goods from countries subject to 2025 reciprocal measures, additional layers apply. The rate that matters is the total effective rate at entry — the sum of all applicable columns, measures, and orders on a specific HTS heading for a specific origin country on a specific entry date. We track this by product category and update as measures change.
