China Tariffs
Tariffs on Chinese goods have compounded across three separate legal authorities. Section 301 duties — 7.5% to 145% by list — sit on top of standard MFN rates. Section 232 steel and aluminum measures add another layer for metal inputs. And the IEEPA-based reciprocal tariffs introduced in 2025 raised effective rates further. For many electronics and industrial goods, the total landed duty now exceeds 50%. Some exclusions exist, but the process is slow and product-specific. We track current rates by HS chapter, active exclusions, and the CBP rulings that affect how Chinese-origin content in third-country goods gets treated at US ports of entry.
