South Korea Trade Compliance
KORUS FTA rates are good — zero or reduced on most goods. But they're not automatic. Origin documentation has to be right, and HS codes have to match. Get either one wrong and you pay full MFN, plus you've created a paper trail that invites a closer look at your other entries.
South Korea runs strategic goods controls under the Foreign Trade Act, aligned with Wassenaar and the Australia Group. Section 232 steel quotas from 2018 still apply. And because South Korea is a gateway to broader North Asian markets, your Korean partners' affiliations matter — Entity List and SDN connections can show up in places you wouldn't expect for what feels like a friendly, developed market.
