Brazil Export Compliance

Brazil is the largest economy in Latin America and a significant market for US industrial goods, chemicals, and technology. Brazilian import regulations are administered by the Secretaria de Comércio Exterior (SECEX) and require import licenses for a wide range of product categories, including chemicals, electronics, and medical devices. Brazil is not party to a free trade agreement with the United States, meaning standard MFN tariff rates apply, which can be substantial for manufactured goods. US exporters must comply with US export control requirements regardless of destination — standard OFAC and BIS screening obligations apply to Brazilian partners and distributors. Brazil's SISCOMEX system handles import documentation and licensing, and compliance with Brazilian import requirements is the responsibility of the Brazilian importer.
