Taiwan Export Compliance
Taiwan is a critical partner in global semiconductor and electronics supply chains, and export compliance involving Taiwanese entities has become increasingly complex given geopolitical tensions in the Taiwan Strait. US export controls on advanced semiconductors and chip manufacturing equipment apply directly to technology transfers involving Taiwan-based companies with Chinese ownership or operational ties. BIS has expanded license requirements for certain semiconductor exports that transit or are produced in Taiwan before reaching end users in China. For US exporters, Taiwan-based distributors and manufacturers require standard partner screening against the Consolidated Screening List and OFAC SDN List, with additional scrutiny on end-use certificates for dual-use and controlled technology.
